We have been bringing you the latest news about deadly flooding and heavy rain impacting a number of countries in Europe.ĭozens of people have been found dead in Germany, with many more still missing following severe overnight flooding in the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, where buildings and cars have been washed awayĪt least six people have died in neighbouring Belgium - with thousands of residents urged to evacuate areas including Maastricht and Liège over fresh flooding fears. : 17-, Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam.Reuters Copyright: Reuters The German town of Schuld (pictured) is among the worst impacted Image caption: The German town of Schuld (pictured) is among the worst impacted Nguyen Hong Quan, et al., Water quality modelling for impact assessment of industrialized and urbanized activities in downstream of Dong Nai river, in VNU - HCM International Conference for Environment and Natural Resources ICENR 2014 “Green growth, climate change and protection of endangered coastal regions” 2014. The models were developed at a specific study area (Tham Luong - Ben Cat Catchment) in Ho Chi Minh city. These models are later served in assessing the effectiveness of green infrastructure development in urban flood reduction. The Tuflow mathematical model was used to simulate 2 dimensional (2D) surface model while the SWMM was developed for 1 dimensional (1D) surface and drainage water system. This paper presents the initial results of applying 2 urban water models, namely Tuflow and SWMM (Stormwater management model). ![]() Recently, with the advancement of science and technology, the mathematical models have been developed and applied in various fields including urban flood. GI is not only beneficial for urban flood reduction but also improved microclimatic conditions, landscape values. Green infrastructure (GI) have been considered as a promising solution. ![]() Urban flooding has become a severe problem in Ho Chi Minh City. ![]()
